Brilliant – thank you so much fo this. We have had difficulty cancelling our plan as we live in Australia. We sent the letter by registered post but Free still did not terminate our contract. We received instant confirmation of them registering our termination.

Hi Leigh,

Happy that it helped ๐Ÿ˜Š. Free introduced the online cancelling in June 2023 ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ.

Interesting! Do you know if the termination page is a new thing for Free Mobile? About 6 months ago, I had to cancel my Free Mobile phone plan (sans engagement) and they required me to send a letter by mail to them.

I plan on returning back to France and would do Free Mobile again if the cancellation process is not such a headache.

Hi!

Yes it is totally a new thing, they (finally) released that in June 2023 because there were a law to enforce easy cancellation process. I read so many complaints about Free cancellation process, people will be relieved when they will know ๐Ÿ˜›

Hi Paul,
Thank you so much for your guide.
Finally, some info on how to cancel the Free mobile plan without having to call, send a letter, a hack to port out the number…

It’s not even easy to find this page on their web site or portal. You’re a genius, how did you even find this cancellation page?

Love your work!

Hi Syd,
Yes, I don’t know why they make it difficult when at the same time, they claim to be no-commitment plans only ๐Ÿ˜….
It was announced last year, just because the French government forced it.
At least, it saves you a bunch of time ๐Ÿ˜.
For the other articles, don’t hesitate to comment if you have some feedback ๐Ÿ˜‰

I was in France last month and bought a 30 day SIM card at a Free store. The Free employee set it up for us and he told us that it was only for 30 days. It was not a monthly plan. A few days ago, I got an email from Free telling me that โ€œYour Free mobile plan
has been terminated.โ€ However, this morning my credit card was charged by Free for another month. I followed your link to terminate the plan online but when I signed in, it said โ€œthis line is terminated.โ€ However, there was also a new charge on their website. Apparently they know that it is terminated but they are still charging me. I have learned not to use a credit card for SIM cards in Europe. Next time I will pay cash.

Hello Viktor,
It is weird, because I never had this kind of issue when I use this 1-month option.
โš ๏ธ if you make communication outside the scope of the plan, you will be charged accordingly.
Did you call or send a message abroad which was not included in the plan?
Did they charge the price of the plan, or a number which doesn’t match the monthly price?

I made some WiFi calls to the US and I texted to the US. I bought the 30 day SIM card. As I recall, it had 150 gigabytes of data. I think it also had free calls and texts to the USA. It was 19.99 euros which included 10 euros for the SIM card. If I wanted another month, I think it would be 9.99 euros. My problem is that they have sent me an email that the plan has been terminated and when I sign in, it says that the line was terminated. Because it is listed as terminated, I canโ€™t cancel the plan. Thanks for your assistance. Your website is great!

If you took the 19.99โ‚ฌ plan, the text to the US is not included (if not iMessage), so you might have been charged for that.
In the case you take the 1-month plan, the plan was terminated automatically, so no need to do what was described in the article.
Thanks for your feedback about my website ๐Ÿ™‚

If you think the money they took is unfair, after checking the final invoice, you can ask assistance on:

Facebook
Twitter
Whatsapp (check on the customer portal

Just know that we have to give 10 days advance notice for termination.

What is the procedure if we need to terminate a plan within 10 days? i.e today is 11-Jun and the termination date is 18-Jun.

Hello, you have 10 days minimum, so if you cancel now, it will terminate in June 21st, you will just owe the pro-rated amount of the monthly plan you pay
